Genie is a problem child. She’s young. She’s willful. She believes she knows more than she actually does. Genie wants to be in charge. What’s worse? Genie weighs close to a thousand pounds.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, this is not a body shaming post. Genie is a horse, a young pony in fact. In true pony form, what Genie lacks in size, she more than makes up for with attitude. Genie has some learning to do.

Genie’s regular rider is a little fart of an eleven year old girl, weighing barely more than a Pomeranian. When she rides Genie, it’s almost as though she’s not there. In addition to her regular rider, Genie gets training rides. She is being trained by two incredibly wise, sensitive and talented women.

From the outside these riders appear to be taking diametrically opposite approaches to training Geine. They engage with Genie’s balance differently than the child does. They engage with the horse much differently than each other.
