If you’ve been struggling and sitting up seems impossible

And food no longer tastes good

And all you see are the very big things to do

And you’ve stopped doing the things you’ve loved

And you’ve systematically sent everyone away

And you lost your last bit of hope with the job they fired you from

And you don’t know who you are, you don’t recognize yourself anymore

And you have bleeding nuckles?

You might just be depressed.

You may have been a swirling mess for quite a while and still functioning.

Every time you think it’s the bottom and you can’t possibly fall any further, you surprise yourself with how much lower you can go and how painful things can be.

Get up.

Get moving.

Do the first thing.

If the first thing is sitting up, start there.

Maybe putting on socks is the thing that’s stalling you.

Do that.

Ignore the mountain. Put on the socks.

Clean ones asshole.

That’s right. Have a bit of decency. Be kind to your feet.

Once your feet are clothed?

Do the next thing.
