Wet slush from the sky

This is a bit of a digest / ambling post.

Where did March go?

What you done with it!

It’s around here somewhere.

I think I saw it yesterday next to the…

Where?

Next to the lamp. No?

Fabric. It’s likely under a pile of fabric.

These last few weeks have been quite an adjustment.

Weird Wiring

Somehow, I had the remarkably foolish idea that I could get ahead of things and that organization would magically ‘fall into place’. I’ve been thinking more clearly than I ever have. And my work habits still move in a spiral. Somehow, I thought that things would just move along clippity clop, clapity clomp. I thought that I would instantly become more focused and linear.

That’s the way I’d like things to progress.

But right now this is not the case. Things are as they need to be.

The house and the studio are in a state of total upheaval.

We’re bursting with stuff.

We’re bursting with change?

Bursting?

Belching?

Molting?

Yeah, snakes! We’re snakes.

We’re molting with change!

This is a mess of transition. The piles are temporary and on their way to places where piles are more appreciated.

I’ve never appreciated having piles.

Anyway

The house is in a state of improvement. Progress continues. Drip by drip.

yeah… i’m talking about the house… just the house. not you,

The house is a bit of a mess. There are waves. The waves are organized. And we’re showing up every day. We’re doing a bit of work it gets a bit more together.

The house will be very tidy very soon. I just need to do my part.

actually, it’s really not the house. the house is fine. it’s the chaos of life and growing dipstick. stop blaming things on the house.

Right. On to something else:

This foolsletter is an extended experiment based on a commitment to show up and share a bit of levity, something that may bring a bit of lightness every day. When I began sending this thing, I had no idea where it was going. Over time, it’s growing into something a bit delicious.

And times like this?

I feel like I’m playing multi dimensional peek a boo with every aspect of myself. I’m showing up and disappearing all over the place. Having said that?

I like where the podcast is going

I started the podcast part in early February. At first it was just me. Then I felt lonely. I’m tired of being a lone creator. There are a lot of neat fun people out there. I started asking if they’d let me interview them. Some said yes!

They’re pretty great people. You should get to know them. I’ll help.

For now the foreseeable future, there will be two people on the podcast - me and a guest. It comes out on Monday morning. I’m going to keep it going weekly. Why weekly? Well, If I do it for year, there will likely be some really beautiful stories told and foolishness collected.

The production values are meh. At least now there’s a bit of music at the beginning and end. It kinda sounds like a podcast.

I’m dedicated to keeping the length of them to around thirty minutes total. I’m starting with a basic structure of questions. I’m looking for stories of creativity, learning through failure, embarrassment and resilience.

I interview people like you - Remarkable Fools. A Remarkable Fool is an ordinary someone who shows up regularly and makes magic happen. e resilient leaders who have learned by doing  and know how to laugh at themselves.

The interviews are really fun. I have a structure for now. I set a goal impulsively. That’s how this darn foolsletter thing happened too. It was a kind of supportive, functional impulsivity - an idea that I toyed with for a bit, but then leapt into with no clue how things would go. I just wanted to write.

The podcast? I just want to hear and share stories.

Now? I’m talking to some really great people. Like fantastic people. People like you - you remarkable fool!

We all have huge hearts and beautiful stories. We all have stories of flops and set backs. We’ve all been embarrassed. And? We all have a chance to show up as ourselves and discover what that is with each other.

?

Made sense to me.

No? Ok. Read that one over a couple of times.

Because that’s the next thing.

I’m hosting a game show.

Creating it. Hosting it. The first preview is live in Halifax on April 1 2023 at 7:30 pm at Happy Soul Dance studio. I’ve had a lot of help to get here.

At first I thought I needed to write a book.

Then for a bit I thought I needed to do stand up.

Then I thought I needed my own talk show.

Then I thought I needed to create a game.

Then? I thought I had to be a stage hypnotist. (that foolishness lasted a day)

Then I realized that I needed to create and host a game show.

Then I realized it wasn’t enough for me to show up. I needed help. So, within the chaos of change, I’ve found a way to show up differently. I’ve shown up and found cool people to work with. I’ll tell you more about them over the next bit.

As for the show, it’s called:

Show Up and Win!

It’s the the world’s first personal growth game show. This is the least rational, most absurd approach to personal growth. So far.

This is a light and lively way to encounter yourself by connecting with others.

If you’re in the greater Dartmouth Nova Scotia area, I’d love to see you drop in.

It’s a free, preview event, known only be you readers.

Exclusive and limited seating.

It’s taking place on Saturday April 1 at 7:30 pm at the Happy Soul Dance Studio

Here are the details:

Participation ribbons and attendance awards are routinely mocked. Some say, that we're promoting mediocrity.

Participation however is essential. In fact, it is only through routine and consistent participation in our lives do we ever get anywhere.

This is a night of showing up, participating and exploring how we show up and engage with ourselves and the world.

We'll do this by playing some absurd games. Think of this as a sort of 'Fear Factor' meets Oprah as hosted by Pee Wee Herman.

Totally weird. Completely absurd.

Awkward, but with a context and support.

And?

There will be prizes. Everyone who shows up participates on some level and will receive a special prize pack!

The more you show up, the more you win.

After the show you'll feel expansive, curious and ready to engage more with life.

You'll know how to show up and win!

This is an alcohol free event and is sponsored by The Pop Culture Brew co. Kombucha will be served.

Check back frequently to find the full list of sponsors as they come in.

Showing up in life is essential.

Showing up at this show will be entertaining.

It’s a chance to see how you show up with others. In essence? It’s an extended game of peek a boo.

Now you see me?

Hello friendly local business owner friend! Let’s chat! ;-)

3

this ended in dramatic fashion eh? One moment an idea begins then BLAMMO! False ending. Drove the direction of your thoughts to the edge of a cliff then plunged you deep into the abyss of a needless, meandering footnote! Ah, but if I were to be so well known that I may be a footnote to history! Existing as a dot on top of a letter ‘I’ in a footnote to history is far above my pay grade. I’m a third rate fool - the kind that resorts to a footnote gag to bail his self out of a foolseltter he didn’t quite know how to finish.

And he interviews people?

Sure. There’s a podcast.

And he’s funny?

Very likely. If you’re in the greater Dartmouth area and you can read this? Go see his show.

Isn’t this just you talking to yourself?

Shhhhh. Loose lips. Give the guy a break.

And?

If you have’t yet become a sponsor? You can click the button, pay for a year and I will send you a lovely gift, suitable for framing!
