Hello my foolish friends.
It’s Movember, the month of the moustache.
This month my writing will focus on the crisis facing men.
I can hear the voices now:
Crisis facing men? That’s absurd! Men are the dominant / oppressive / problematic ones! They don’t need help.
These voices in my head? These aren’t my ‘inner critics’.
These were my outer critics. Many I met in University. Even more came from therapy school. Over the last couple of years, I’ve eliminated these ‘toxic’ cowards from my life.
If you find yourself thinking things like this and are ready to jump to judgement, to leap to label and write off my writing as problematic whinging of a toxic movement or if you blame ‘the patriarchy’ or ‘toxic masculinity’ for all

It’s not you, it’s me.

Wait.
It’s all of us.
We are all to blame.
I’m tired of that divisive bullshit. I’m just going to care for the people I can with sensitivity, integrity and humour.1
