Time to celebrate five years of daily publishing on Substack
post 1834 of shouting gleefully into the void
This is post 1834
1834!
Today marks five years of the foolsletter.
If this keeps going, there will be over 200 posts by the end of the summer.
If you’re thinking of writing?
Write.
Do it every day.
Your writing is already pretty good.
And even if you’re convinced that you’re shouting into the void, do it anyway.
At the lake, on lonely, quiet winter days, I love shouting up the lake. There’s something irresistible about an echo.
Either way, go make some noise.
But if you write between seven hundred and a thousand words per day?
You’ll only get better.
As a writer that is.
You still might be a total arse. I still am.
But now? I’m a total arse with a writing problem.
Me?
I’m proof that no matter how much effort you put into your craft, it’s the people who market well that get their work discovered and have financial success.
You can be good at writing.
You can be good at marketing.
But being good at both?
Well, that’s where the magic begins.
Here’s to five years together, dear reader!
Who knows where the next five will bring us?
Likely just more echos from the void.
But maybe, just maybe the void might just shout back.
Stay foolish.
And remember: when in doubt, lighting your farts on fire at a party is a sure way to get invited back.
Or at least talked about.
