When you go to the circus you will see the tight wire walker. They're so high up you'll crane your neck and squint in the glare from the lights.
Invariably, at some point in the act things will look difficult. Things will look scary. The person on the wire will look like they're about to fall.
They usually never do.
You never perform a trick that you're working on. You only perform a trick or a skill that you are absolutely certain of. You only show up in front of an audience with a trick that you can do 10 times out of 10 and 100 times out of 100.
Performing a routine on a tight wire requires an element of precision that looks like perfection.
These days, it can seem and feel like we're walking on a tight wire high up above the ground.
Each step is fraught.
