Footage from the frontlines does not help your life.
Whether it’s from Sudan or the ruthless oppression of the Uyghur by the Chinese Communist Government watching the footage of the oppressed does not help.
Being informed that children are working for slave wages in China does not help. It helps neither them, nor you.
They say that the point of awareness is to help people make change through knowledge.
I know what’s going on in Gaza. I’m aware. Now what?
Protest?
That’s supposed to work how?
In fact, if you’re one of the majority of the earth and are reading this right now, you are likely not in a conflict. You are however a spectator. A better term however would be voyeur.
The news, wheter it’s on your phone or laptop is little more than war porn.
Watching does not help the dying. It doesn’t help us either.
There have been humans for hundreds of thousands of years. For hundreds of thousands of years, we had no idea what happened fifty miles away, let alone the other side of the earth.
The global mindset is both inhumane and inhuman.
Are there countless people dying in global conflicts right now?
Likely.
And you know what?
I really do not fucking care.
Not an ounce.
Asking for and expecting compassion and empathy for people who are that far away, who I do not know, nor have any connection with is asking too much.
Boycott the news.
It’s war porn - you feel all of the feels without any threat of fluids being exchanged.
Turn off the division machine. Turn off the diversion machine.
Become less informed about the world. You’ll likely have more time and energy. Spend that time and energy growing your own food.
Think locally.
Act locally.
And turn off the fucking news.
