Nova Scotia once had mountains taller than the Himalayas. That was before the giant sheets of ice ground them all down. If we were here before the last ice age, the mountain bike scene would be better than that in BC.
Damn you timing!
Now though, there are tonnes of hills. The Lake Charlotte area is full of fun hills to ride.
The Lake Charlotte Mini epic (sign up here) is the first event of our soon to be formed ‘Lake Charlotte Mountain Bike Association’.
I was talking with Jed the other day and proposed that by the time we’re finished building our mountain bike association and trail network, the result would be over 200km of natural single track stretching from Stanfield Airport to Liscomb Lodge.
Jeezus buddy, that’ll take a decade to build.
My reply was simple:
A decade eh? Add on three or four years of screwing up and that would make the two of us eligible for old age pensions.
It’s an absurd, foolish idea.
And?
It’s one that I can dedicate myself to.
