I have no memories of pond hockey with friends. No memories of muddy spring walks through the sugar woods to watch maple syrup transformed into candy poured and plated on a bed of fresh snow. I didn’t rake blueberries as a summer job, I didn't pledge my loyalty to the Queen each morning before class began and I didn’t run or raise money for Terry Fox.
These seemingly small threads of shared Canadian connection can help weave a tapestry of belonging that is foundational to our values, way of life and sense of self.
