I see people every day who tell me with their voices I need to change ____ because of ____.
When I listen to the pleading of their eyes I hear this: Am I really that bad?
They make valid points: I don’t fit in. It hurts. I need to find a way to fit in with what’s being asked of me.
That is garden variety, everyday, foolishness.
We live in a world unlike many of the billions that have come before us. There are more rules, more customs, more ‘specifications’ for human behaviour than every before. The people who like rules continue to be creative. Their output is not diminishing. In reality? The amount of bullshit rules created to justify bullshit jobs gets thicker every day. Even people who profess to be ‘fluid’ get hung up about how they are classified and labeled.
They younger you are, the more that will be measured, chunked and analyzed by our algorhymithic overlords. It seems everywhere you go there’s someone waiting with a tape measure, stopwatch or some other qualitative standard to measure our behaviour.
The corporatization of everything continues to set standards and specifications assigning so many should do’s and ought to’s there is less room for the variable, non standard, human.
You’re not here to fit in.
You’re not here to meet spec.
You’re here to find your way.
If you don’t know where to start?
Take you time. Wait a minute.
Do it on your timeline.
Not theirs.
Let the people with the watches measure time.
You?
Go enjoy it.
