We needed help. It was urgent.
There was a rat in the feed room.
It didn’t want to leave.
Finally one of the instructors returned.
What do you do when you find a rat in the feed room?
(a big rat)
It didn’t respond to stomping or shouting.
“Hit it with a stick.”
Hit it with a stick?
“Hit it with a stick.”
You’ve heard it here first folks, when there’s a rat in the feed room and it does not listen to reason, nor cower at the might of your stomps, you may have a melancholic rat on your hands.
And the only response to a rat like that is to hit it with a stick.
Well.
This time, that wasn’t the case.
By the time a stick of suitable size had been located, the rat had vacated the feed room. All was well. Horses were groomed and fed and loved.
And no rats were struck during the writing of of this blog post.
