We’ve made an arse of things here haven’t we?
Not on this blog post, but here on this earth.
Over the last two hundred and fifty or so years, we’ve burnt things for power.
This power has made our lives incredibly easier.
The impacts have been great.
Humans live more than twice as long.
This to me is a good.
For ten generations we’ve been using this power without knowing much about the consequences.
That part isn’t as good. The rachet of harnessing power has had a really negative impact on the earth.
We’ve been smoking Marlboros for ever and now we know different.
Just over fifty years ago everything changed.
Just about fifty years ago - a month and a day after my birthday to be precise, the image of The Blue Marble was captured. It’s said that that image of our earth, so beautiful and fragile in the vast emptiness of space had a huge influence. Some credit it with the beginning of the environmental movement.
