Pollution and progress
No change is clean
Horses were an improvement over walking everywhere.
And?
What to do with the horseshit?
What to do with the pollution?
What to do with the unwanted impacts that come with improvement?
Cars were an improvement over horses.
What to do with the CO2?
What to do with the pollution?
What to do with the unwanted impacts that come with improvement?
The internet, social media and the like are a much more efficient way to communicate with others than telephones and letters.
And, they have many unwanted impacts.
What to do with the pollution?
What to do with the unwanted impacts that come with improvement?
EVERY innovation whether technical, political or social has its unwanted and unintended impacts. Every innovation creates one kind of pollution or another.
Here, we have a choice. We can choose to say that the innovation is just so wonderful that the pollution doesn’t matter.
Or, we can honestly acknowledge that there may be pollution. The pollution might be important to deal with. Are there ways to minimize our pollution.
The idea of ‘pollution’ becomes pretty essential in personal growth. Sometimes when we’re sorting our shit out, things can be messy. Big changes can create a lot of pollution - impacts far beyond ourselves.
How messy can we get?
How much is too much?
When is a bit of pollution necessary?
When does it seem a bit much?
When is it just a matter of ‘lett’er rip’?

Good post. Progress isn't perfection. But it is progress.
