This is the three hundred and sixty seventh Foolsletter.

That’s one Foolsletter each day and two mistakes for those of you who’ve been paying attention.

Here is a quick summary of the last year:

Everyone is flawed - that’s a feature of humanity, not a bug.

Pain and anxiety are part of life. You can try to eliminate them. When you do, I’ll laugh at you.

Expectations will ruin your experience.

Humans are more emotional and impulsive than reasonable.

You are two thirds animal. Don’t forget to pay attention to those parts.

The stories in your head that are true for you might not be the same with other people.

The stories in our heads can change.

They lied about what is important.

Change takes time.

You’re going to screw up.

Fail often.

People will disappoint you.

People will delight you.

Your greatest strength is your greatest weakness.

Your greatest weakness has hidden strengths.

There’s magic in the little things.

Love the people who love you.

Fuck the fucking fuckers.

Finally, for those of you who have been a part of this journey, the practice of creating and shipping creative work is ultimately very satisfying. I would encourage all of you to find a way to create and share something every day.

So, thank you so much.

I am grateful for all of your trust and attention.

It’s like the old saying goes:

Action creates trust.

Happy authorversary.

Well crafted post.

There's been a great deal of serendipity with what is on my mind in the morning and what arrives from your newsletter each day. Like a kid testing ESP by trying to guess a card, I look forward to seeing if "I got your telepathy" as my Mom would say. Today was such a day. I just woke up with a clear concept and main points for a book and drafted them in a note in my phone before they became hazy from sleepiness.

"Your greatest strength is your greatest weakness.

Your greatest weakness has hidden strengths."

I speak of this truth with my students. Part of my role is helping them explore themselves so they can better understand and communicate who they are (and what will make them happiest) when looking for their first professional job.

Seeing the upside and downside of everything, including yourself, brings balance and the comfort of knowing that perfection is not for mere mortals.
