I have a confession to make. I want to tell you all about yet another addiction that I live with. Despite clearing headspace for myself by pairing down addictions, some still linger. Funny things have always been an obsession for me. I do not think this will ever disappear.
Since the invention of the fail video, I’ve been addicted to fail videos. There are many types. Some are dangerous. Some are violent. Some make me feel uncomfortable. Though I love them all, I my favorites follow a simple formula. Someone tries something in earnest. They are not successful. They may have hurt themselves. Then they laugh.
Many of the best ones feature leaping. Change is always a leap. Frequently when we try to change in our lives we fall flat on our faces. Or land in the mud. Sometimes when we’re working our, making change happen, doing relational ‘leg day’, the plates fall off one end of the bar and we take a painful tumble.
