To live as a difficult person with other difficult people there is one real skill, one character ability, one psychological state that is essential for survival.

Some might say suggest that this is awareness.

Others might call for manifesting.

Still more believe that once we enter into a state of gratitude, we can achieve a state of grace.

All of them make me barf in my mouth a little.

Attempting to stay in one psychological state is silly.

Every now and then the ocean is calm.

It never stays that way.

Neither will you.

The fool says: Today was bad. Tomorrow? I hope…

The key to survival, to keep moving? It’s the most irrational of psychological characteristics of all: simple, absurde, guileless, hope.

Today, I may have been a bit of a prick… Tomorrow? I hope I’m better.

Today, the foolsletter was really late. Tomorrow? I hope I get it written sooner.

When things get low, the only direction left to go is up.

When things are crumbling inside you, the only place left to go is out.

Up and out?

Up …
