People who whittle frequently will tell you that they spend as much time sharpening their kinves, gouges and chistles as they do cutting wood.

Rehearsals for a theatre production often last longer than the run of the show.

Last nigth I spent two hours getting my bike ready to ride.

Last week was spent prepping to travel to the Collision Conference in Toronto. The materials I’m going there with I’ve been working on for a while.

It’s showtime.

Let’s cut some wood.

If it matters, perparation is everything.

Preparation. I have a love / hate relationship with it. My job is broken down into preparation/clean up time and performance time. I am paid for a fraction of the time it takes for a job at the quality I dictate as required. I am the creator of my overwork because of the quality of work with which I want to be associated: an entrepreneur's mindset in an employee's compensation package.

Everything takes preparation and preparation takes planning. Planning is work that is seldom recognized but evident in the performance.

I didn't plan for Father's Day. I ad lib well, but a planned event is required for this auspicious occasion. Luckily the recipient of today's felicitations is appreciative of all my efforts.
