On enduring gimmicks
and novel motivation
Picture this: Grey, wet and bleak with a lot of swirling leaves in stiff winds crossing empty streets and a city that has sought refuge in shopping malls.
It’s that time of year again, that time of year that I don’t want to ride and I don’t want to surf.
Instead?
It’s great weather for doing chores all day outside.
But doing chores all day, fun as it may be, it doesn’t push me enough endurance wise.
So I went out walking
While out walking I began to imagine what kinds of lines was drawing with my Gee Pee SSS.
Then I got excited.
We could make pictures with our rides.
I texted Zeke.
I want to make pictures.
His reply?
It’s been done.
Of course it’s been done. Mapping pictures is done all the time.
So is riding bikes.
Mappying pictures is pretty dorky
I like being dorky.
My reply to Zeke?
I want to make pictures enough to go out and ride in the cold.
Both of us have been low on motivation.
And anything that can keep the practice going?
That’s enough.
Whether it’s pure motivation or a gimmicky gag, it doesn’t matter.
Put on the shoes, go out the door.
Make circles with your feet.
And if you don’t like bikes?
Go make pictures another way.
You photogenic phartbags.
