It’s amazing.
Dear reader, it truly is AMAZING how so many so called ‘progressive people’ want to make positive changes in the world one minute, stand for the oppressed the next minute AND THEN use the phrase ‘people are stupid’.
Then justify their statements by saying that we need to protect people from the stupid ones.
If you’re wondering what prompted this rant?
We are currently not allowed to walk through a one hundred and fifty foot path to go to the lake.
Nor can Zeke ride his bike 400 meters through a ‘forested area’ between a lake and a highway because a firefighter’s puppy might die if a homeless person lights an ATV on fire with their chainsaw.
Or at least that’s a basic run down of the pro authoritarian arguments used by most of people that I speak with these days.
There’s a reason that Nova Scotia was one of the last places on earth not to have Covid.
It’s because the place is filled with fucking fascists who seem to love having the government control behaviour.
Or,
The middle class people that I tend to run with tend to distrust and despise ‘the stupid people’ that they vote NDP in order to ‘represent’.
In reality?
The snitch lines are overflowing with people denouncing their neighbours for chasing a ball or taking a quick short cut because of ‘a real threat of loss of life and property’.
The reality?
This province is infected with the plague of safetism.
Those in charge squeak when they fart.
They shudder at any risk. It’s grotesque.
Safetism is spurred by the same impulse that makes those who like the forest rules shudder when I ride by without a bike helmet.
Oh those stupid people who ride without helmets. They cost our healthcare system so much money… Oh how they rant over cocktails while shifting around their obese bodies.
The most hilarious part?
These fucking nerds don’t realize that their attempts to control are mostly a projection of their innate fragility and insignificance in the face of a vast infinity that doesn’t give a shit about their existence.
The notion of controlling wildfires and human behaviour?
That’s about as likely as catching the wind.
Perhaps with a fast enough electric car might just do that - they might one day catch the wind.
Only once their batteries catch fire, those fires never go out.
Either way they’re going to keep on trying because they are the change they seek in the world.
(oh my I may have just barfed a little in my mouth)
Well, who am I to judge?
I am a trollish fool after all.
But, at least I’m willing to put my trust in the stupid ones and question the smart ones who seem to believe that they have life all figured out.
Let’s bubble wrap our experts!
It will keep them safe.
And?
If we do it tightly enough, they might just discover the only certainty that comes with being a living creature…
Fuck the performative caring. Fuck the sanctimonious fucks. Fuck the forest ban. And fuck the fucks who support it. If there's another pandemic I'm never wearing a fucking mask and I'm going to sneeze all over your immuno compromised relatives.
