I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not upset. You’re upset!
Have you been here? You’re engaging with someone and they point out that you seem ‘upset’, or ‘off’ or ‘angry’.
You’ve been on one side or another of a conversation like this one. Most common fools end up on both sides of this from time to time. Sure, there are days when you’re the one being noticed. There are days when we are the ones doing the noticing.
Far too often though, the more obtuse fools among us can see others in a noisy energetic state while at the same time, failing to recognize it in ourselves. A garden variety fool struggles to notice their noisy energy - even when it’s pointed out.
I wrote previously that we have more energy available to us than ever before. Given that we are composed of matter and matter is energy waiting to happen, it’s easy to see energy everywhere.
Anxious people typically have ‘noisy energy’. They can seem rigid and stuck. Or they can sound like they are compelled to speak, to tell stories. It’s like they are driven by a motor.
My car has a load of energy available to it. If I step on the gas and it’s not in gear, it makes a lot of noise. The energy from my car is alarming. What’s worse? When I put it in gear, it starts moving! I need to control it! Any thing could happen! Watch out!
Once the car is ‘into gear’, the noise from the motor is no longer energy. It’s power.
Power is the rate that energy is transferred, transmitted or used. Power is focused energy dispersed over time. Some fools fear power, especially their own. These dime a dozen fools blame ‘energy’ for their misfortune. There’s a bigger issue though.
A common fool does not have the capacity to become more comfortable with the discomfort that goes with a heightened energy state. Common, ordinary fools do not have the capacity to regulate, direct and control their energy. They don’t have the capacity to turn their energy into power.
How do you build this capacity within yourself?
First get help.
Common fools go it alone.
Remarkable fools get help.
Find someone you trust and have them ask you questions when your energy seems heightened and you’re unaware of it. Invite a friend, colleague, spouse or family member to ask you to notice your body, your breath, your chest, your hands, your jaw when they suspect that you might be in a heightened state.
Begin to develop knowledge of how you hold onto, block or move energy through you at a physical level. What happens to you physically when you are energetically noisy? How does your behaviour change?
How do you miss it?
(and no YOU ARE NOT FUCKING PERFECT IN YOUR SELF AWARENESS, YOU MISS THIS SHIT ALL THE TIME)
So again without the shouting,
How do you miss it?
What caustically foolish vibe do you get onto without any awareness of your impact?
Once you can host / hold / contain excess energy, how do you direct it? How can you focus its’ emergence, give it an intensity, a weight, an interval and direction?
What would you need to do in order to turn your anxious, excess energy into power?
