I am always so stoked when Tim Ferris brings a new guest on his show. My favorites have been Kevin Kelly, Seth Godin and Derek Sivers. His interview with Elan Lee, the inventor of the Exploding Kittens phenomena is particularly great.

My favorite episodes though are Tim’s ‘drinking episodes’ with his good pal Kevin Rose. These are sloppy, unstructured and a lot less optimal. There, Tim’s a lot more human.

But they piss me off a bit. He allows his shadow to emerge when he’s drinking. I wish he could be more ‘publically messy’ without being hammered. Booze is both a lubricant and an excuse for far too many of us. Sure, we dudes need to cut loose and let go of all of the spinning plates we’re attempting to keep up.

I wish more of us could do that sober.

What gets in the way?

My guess is our relationship with shame. Somehow it seems less shameful in the eyes of the public to act like a jackass when we’re all lit up. It isn’t. We dudes use using as both a gateway to our inner asshole and an …
