Cut the lawn?
No problem.
Repair a piano?
No problem.
Fly the space shuttle?
No problem. Just don’t ask me to land it.
That’s the attitude of a clown er… remarkable fool.
When asked, we foolishly venture forward with a simple attitude.
I’ll give it a try.
There’s more to it though. When venturing into the unknown, we fools are willing to try things we can’t do and figure it out as we go. Sometimes we’re successful, other times? Not so much. This can be an emotionally fraught process.
During the not so much times, we fools have another simple attitude:
Today, I was bad. Tomorrow? I hope.
If you want to know who the fools are, look for hope. The truly foolish are able to fail with enough grace to hope that tomorrow things might be different. When the foolish fail forward, they catch onto just enough wisdom, just enough knowledge, just enough possibility to hope for some level of improvement as they move forward.
