And an riff on self created certainty.

Important correction on yesterday's post

There is a mistake I must correct and point out from my post yesterday.

There, I was talking about transactional analysis AND laid something out WRONG that needs-a-fixing.

There I wrote:

Read those numbers again. Notice your body. Feeling anything?

Likely not.

This is the realm of the parent ego state.

And knowing this little trick is helpful.

I’ve bolded my mistake.

It’s not the ‘parent’ state at all. Talking about numbers with someone is an adult to adult interaction.

That’s now fixed on the blog and it reads:

Read those numbers again. Notice your body. Feeling anything?

Likely not.

This is the realm of the adult ego state.

And knowing this little trick is helpful.

Phew. Glad that’s complete.

I’ve been distracted lately.

Certainty. Numbers. Self created certainty.

Like I just said, I’ve been a bit distracted lately.

And?

Over a year ago I made the simple decision to write and share with all of you everyday.

This decision has wiped out a lot of uncertainty in my life.

Now I’m sure about a few things.

What I know? 113 pages. Over thirty thousand words with a couple more thousand to show up.

The Book of Wrong Answers is a thing.

A year of showing up and the book is essentially there

Woo!

It’s getting closer.

I doubted that I would get this far.

So. I have pages.

I have a book.

Will it get read?

Will it be helpful?

More uncertainty.

But in times of upheaval, when things are scary, it’s really important to take stock of what we have some control over.

Then?

Go do stuff. In doing so, you have some certainty in your life.

Maybe not in the long term, but every action you take today towards your goals is a gift to your future self.

Making commitments to show up on a consistent basis even when its hard is how change happens.

Let me rephrase that.

Making the commitment and showing up on a consistent basis ESPECIALLY when it is hard is how change happens.

It’s been tough to show up lately.

And, my guess life has been a bit scary for many of you.

So, who do you show up for, even when it’s difficult?

How has that changed you?

It’s like the old saying goes:

A bird in the hand may be worth two in the bush, either way, ya gotta hunt if you want birds.

"Making the commitment and showing up on a consistent basis ESPECIALLY when it is hard is how change happens."

Children are a life long commitment; scariest and best decision of my life.

As a woman, showing up for myself is my current great project in progress.

James, the book IS a thing and I believe it will do the things you wish for it to do. It also has done good things you never expected; some you will know about, some not. That's what is wonderful about life.
