Most of the day was spent with sunny skies. Zeke and I explored and experienced some blissful isolation on the trail that day. Though I’d never go that route alone, every part of it was made better by having someone to share it with.
Zeke is a machine when it comes to cycling. He cruises through challenges. It seemed that the more difficult and painful the challenge, the more engaged he’d be. This one hundred kilometer ride was a killer for me. For Zeke, it was a walk in the park.
Well. Really it was a lovely ride on a beautiful cloudless day.
That changed when we were almost two thirds of the way through the journey. I don’t like the look of that sky, Zeke muttered. It was true. The sky was growing dark with heavy black clouds. We need to push the pace a bit. It’ll be cold soon.
Zeke spoke and moments later I felt a chill. Oh no, I thought. Riding gets more difficult when you need calories to stay warm in addition to moving. We had to keep going.
