how to move mountains
if things seem overwhelming
Recovering can seem tough.
Getting better can feel impossible, recovery impossible.
Success can appear as likely as clearing a beach of sand and being forced to move it one minute speck of dirt at a time whilst using chopsticks.
You might be setting yourself up for disappointment - especially if you imagine an immediate outcome.
But as a beach is a composed of a seemingly infinite number of individual pieces of sand, a mountain is merely a big pile of rocks.
So, to move a mountain of opportunity, depression, rage, anxiety, fear and pain you need to start.
Pick up one rock.
Move it.
Pick up another rock.
Move it.
And slowly, very slowly, you may not move a mountain, but over time, end up with your own wonderful rock pile.
Once satisfied with what you’ve done?
Climb it and shout with glee:
I’m the king of the castle! I’m the king of the castle!
And then?
Keep moving rocks.
It’s like the old saying goes:
When in Rome, roam if you want to, roam around the world for Rome wasn’t built by poppin’ zits on your arse.
Ah, a favourite: how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Please imagine an Easter chocolate elephant. No amazing animals were harmed in the making of this image.
Oh! The castle/theatre/tower sounds much more exciting than a pile. Sold! I’ll stuff as many pebbles as I can in my pockets. Back soon!
