Scotiabank is an interesting outfit.

They are happy to employ outstanding people to go and find new customers.

They are great at hiring pleasant people to get current customers to add financial products.

Even better than them though are the collections department. They are happy to call three, four or even five times a day!

The fraud department?

The customer service there is terrible.

Back in June my wallet was stolen.

With cards connected to three of the four major Canadian banks, I had a front row seat to see how they deal with such matters.

CIBC? They were easy. Everything was fast, efficient and dealt with quickly. I called, didn’t have to wait and my cards were cared for. I did not get ripped off.

With TD, I took similar action on line. I did not get ripped off.

Scotiabank?

They were a different fish and produced different results.

Nothing happened with my TD and CIBC cards.

I thought nothing happened with Scotiabank.

That bit of blissful ignorance was disrupted by the arrival of my Scotiaban…
