Wireless communications are one of the great marvels of the late 20th century. And? They happen to be primitive and entirely inadequate to fully allow for deep human connections. Any fool knows this.
It doesn’t matter if you’re giving a presentation, performing stand up or meeting someone on a first date, you’re going to be judged. Usually, people give you a few minutes before they begin tuning out. With children and young audiences, it happens even more quickly.
Who among you hasn’t sat politely through a horrible powerpoint or tedious, droning keynote? Which of you haven’t endured the kind of wedding speech that would make actuarial tables exciting? We get trained to put up with boring presentations. In turn, sticking with the format, most of us create them ourselves.
Children however, haven’t typically been fully socialized for such tact. They lose interest. They shift. They get distracted. Best of all, when things are boring, they find ways to play no matter what.
