I wasn’t ready. Not at all.

Zeke’s proposal seemed like madness.

My reply, uttered before I could think, couldn’t be withdrawn.

oh shit, what have I done?

Zeke said the route would be around fifty six miles, eighty some kilometers give or take. He imagined the ride lasting anywhere from eight to ten hours.

That number? That’s a guess. It usually ends up being a bit more. Let’s make sure we’re rolling by ten.

A bit more? The final total was just about a hundred kilometers.

I’m not ready, I protested, this will be my first big ride of the year. I spend the winter writing and making tee vee. You two rode bikes the whole time.
