Are we there yet?
The question that plagues all family road trips rose up from the back seat.
But how to answer?
Knowing that this game would persist for the next three hours typically struck terror into the hearts of driving parents.
Now?
With GPS’s and such, the time till destination really isn’t in doubt.
As someone who both personally and professionally loves to spelunk secondary roads, I’m more than happy to cast aside the certainty of a gps, the determinism of an automatic transmission and the comfort of air conditioning while travelling with the family.
We get lost.
We don’t know when we’ll get there.
And?
That’s what seems to make the trip more interesting.
So, when clients ask:
How much further Papa Smurf?
The only rational reply is to purr.
