Is it just me, or are late nights sometimes a bit of a mind fuck?
Have you ever stood there in the kitchen staring at everything all around your and wondered how the hell did we get here?
All of the stuff! The tiles, the wood, doors, recipes, and February tomatoes - it all just seems so improbable, so impossible.
It’s at times like that when I’ve frozen dead still.
What would happen if it all stopped somehow?
From there, it’s a short walk over to thoughts of what’s dying going to be like? How will I experience the transition into not being? How does it feel to die? Where and how will it happen?
Usually after this I make toast and peanut butter.
As the rye caramelizes, my mind wanders to my children.
What have I done? More souls! More minds doomed to this existential dread!
We are currently living through a period of time where things are changing more dramatically and fundamentally than at the time of the advent of the steam engine and printing press.
