The words conjures images of road crews crying over cracked pavement or flying into a panicked rage.
Emotional labor involves our ability to use practical empathy to solve problems. Emotional labor involves taking risks with ourselves and our work. Emotional labor means starting things that likely won’t turn out the way we intended.
Emotional labor is the work of showing up even when we don’t want to.
Emotional labor is the difficult work of seeing people and caring enough to make a difference.

I learned about emotional labor and how I could serve others better through Akimbo workshops put on by Seth Godin and his friends.
