Don’t defy physics, defy culture
on the role of space / time in the creative process
Once upon a time, I believed that I needed more space to be creative. How does one rehearse and develop a clown show without a space?
That was my basic thinking.
Eventually, I found access to a space.
But then?
I worked constantly.
I need time to create.
How does one make time in a busy schedule to make anything?
So there i was - stuck.
And right now?
Right now I have both space and time for my creative processs.
But instead?
I also have a sofa that defies physics.
It is a black hole that sucks up all of space and time.
Er.
It’s a space where I wast a lot of time.
So, dear reader, perhaps it isn’t space.
Nor time - nor even tools for that matter.
Perhaps, what’s missing is my ability to put down the distractions that the world constantly screams at me through screens.
So,
If you want to create something.
You don’t need to defy physics. You don’t need to breach some sort of space / time continuum.
You need to defy our culture.
Our groomed culture of compliance created by al-go-rhythms.
Put down your phone.
Move to a different drummer.
Fill the space with your joy and have the time of your life.
Stay sunny, you fools!
