With the right saw, you can cut a board.
With the right knife, you can skin and gut a deer.
With the correct clippers, you can cut hair.
The carpenter knows the correct saw.
But any fool can look that up.
The hunter knows the correct knife.
But any fool can look that up too.
The barber knows the correct clippers.
Any fool can look that up as well.
The carpenter cuts straight, correct and true. It requires technique.
The hunter can open up a deer’s belly without hitting the bladder and ruining the meat.
And a barber?
They can take clippers and make things look acceptable.
All of these things took time and supervision to perfect.
So go ahead, build your own house.
Plan on ruining more wood than a carpenter would.
Hunt and kill your own food.
Expect a big bloody mess with more drama than a hunter would experience.
And finally?
Cut your own hair.
It will look as you imagined.
