Approaching five years of foolishness
and five years of mostly daily shipping and writing…
Five years ago I was in a course for creatives that was led by Seth Godin.
It was sometime around that time that I pledged to write daily and maybe, just maybe ship something as well.
A few months later?
This fools letter was born.
Five years!
Improbable that this has been around that long - a little less than a tenth of my life!
And you dear reader?
You’ve likely been with me for most of this ride.
It all began with two questions that I ask myself daily: What is one thing you can do today that will make your life better tomorrow? What one thing if you keep doing it will make a big difference in one years time?
Well…
That’s what this has become.
It’s that one thing that I can do daily that makes a difference for myself tomorrow. I always feel good that I keep writing.
And in terms of in a years time?
Well. My writing has become improved and my thoughts have become more clear.
Best of all?
I know what my writing sounds like when I sound like me.
All in all it’s been wonderful.
And?
As I pull towards the 5th birthday of this daily writing thing, I’d like to create something just for all y’all out there reading.
I’d like to make something just for you.
So, here’s a poll with a few ideas.
And if there’s something you’d really like from this fool to celebrate 5 years of foolsletters?
Let me know.
I’m sending this meow so that I can have something ready for all y’all in February.
And thanks for reading you fools.

Wow, it's been almost 5 years! The drips really do add up in interesting ways. Some time over the past 5 years I added a post-it note on the top corner of my computer screen that says "What can I do today that future Devon would see as a gift from past Devon?" I've also learned that I like to confound expectations, so I don't want to answer your survey other than to ask you what would feel like a gift to future Jim?
